Los Angeles Rams New Addition Strikes The Right Tone At Mauicamp, ‘That’s What You Want’

After signing a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams this offseason, veteran wide receiver Davante Adams says he feels “rejuvenated.” It’s a sentiment that resonates deeply with head coach Sean McVay, who praised both Adams’ outlook and his early impact on the team.

“It’s so cool, and that’s what you want,” McVay told Rams.com’s J.B. Long. “We’re always trying to strike that balance of urgency and enjoyment. For Davante to say that, that means the world to me because of the respect and admiration I have for him as a person and a player.”

Relive Aaron Donald’s Most Iconic Moment

“So, we’re always trying to strike that balance of urgency and enjoyment. For Davante to say that, that means the world to me because of the respect and admiration I have for him as a person, as a player. Really glad that he’s in our locker room. He’s made a tremendous impact already. And I think he feels appreciated, and I know the guys feel appreciated by the way that he moves, the way that he’s pouring into guys, and just being a great teammate himself.”

Adams, now entering his 12th NFL season, split 2024 between the Raiders and Jets. Despite the turbulence, he still managed 85 receptions for 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns in just 14 games. He has topped 1,000 receiving yards in six of the past seven seasons and remains one of the league’s premier route runners.

Building Chemistry with Stafford

McVay is equally excited about the chemistry developing between Adams and quarterback Matthew Stafford, who enters his 17th NFL season. The Rams coach highlighted their shared commitment and football IQ as key reasons why the connection has been seamless.

“It’s been a privilege to watch their dialogue on the field,” McVay said. “They’re both professionals who understand the nuances of the game. Their ability to communicate and adapt really stands out.”

As the Rams retool following a challenging 2024 campaign, the Stafford-Adams duo could be the key to reigniting the offense. Adams’ precision and Stafford’s arm talent offer the promise of explosive plays—and potentially, a return to playoff contention.

With mutual respect and McVay’s vision, Los Angeles has a dynamic pairing capable of redefining its offensive identity in 2025.
