3 Nightmare Scenarios For Los Angeles Rams In 2025, Feat. Kyren Williams

The Los Angeles Rams‘ 2024 season ended at the hands of the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, which serves as the perfect ammunition for fans to go all-in on the franchise in 2025.

However, as fans during the 2022 season will recall, optimism doesn’t always bear fruit. Sometimes, bad things can happen. It’s what keeps the NFL interesting and the intensity high, because at any moment, it could all come crashing down.

Here’s a look at some of the doomsday scenarios the Rams are praying don’t happen this season.

Kyren Williams Suffers From Payday Hangover

Kyren Williams was getting close to his breakout payday moment, and he now has secured the bag. As has been reported by agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus via Adam Schefter on X, the Rams running back has secured a three-year, $33 million extension with $23 million guaranteed. He had previously been playing for about $1 million, per Spotrac.

The back certainly has earned the pay increase. However, giving the running back the money carries a risk for the Rams. Running backs don’t always get a third contract at the level of their second contract, so Williams now has to ask himself how much to celebrate his potential once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Will he live up to his new contract or display a hangover from his payday?

Williams is already facing some demons with his ability to hold onto the football (eight fumbles since the start of the 2023 season), and now has a fresh beast to deal with in terms of temptation. This is a potential recipe for trouble.

One can only hope Williams will rise to the occasion and navigate the situation with tact.

Los Angeles Rams Quarterback Room Health Continues Tumble

Matthew Stafford’s health is a national storyline. He hasn’t practiced yet due to a back injury, which is only raising anxiety the longer his absence lasts. The most important thing is getting his health back to 100% before Week 1, but one nightmare scenario that remains possible is that even with a full preseason spent healing, Stafford won’t be able to get back on the field in time for the start of the season.

The Rams do have arguably the best backup quarterback in the league in the form of Jimmy Garoppolo. However, the quarterback also has his own injury history with the San Francisco 49ers, with many pointing to that trouble as the reason for the 49ers moving off him in the first place.

The doomsday scenario would be that not only is Stafford unable to play, but Garoppolo fails to fill out the time missed by Stafford, which would leave Stetson Bennett to lead the team. He, of course, has had his own attendance troubles, which could leave the Rams up a creek.

Remember, this is merely a doomsday situation and the perfect storm. All signs point to a reality much better than this, but there is still technically the potential for lightning to strike two or three times for the franchise this season.

Here’s hoping for the sake of the Los Angeles Rams that this doesn’t happen.

Davante Adams Reaches Fathertime

Davante Adams recently said on July 28 that he felt like he could hit “2k” in an interview with Kay Adams. However, he hasn’t hit 1.5k since 2022 and hasn’t hit 1k with a single franchise since 2023 (collectively crossed 1K last season between the Raiders and Jets).

The league has seen players hit 1,000 yards on the plus side of 30 in recent years, but they have also seen players slide down the mountain like a novice snowboarder on a double black diamond.

The Rams will likely need more options than Puka Nacua if they are to ascend this season. If the 32-year-old Adams hits Father Time, it could take the Los Angeles Rams from several games to several months to realize it.

In the process, the passing game could hit a wall and sputter, spelling a multitude of problems throughout the franchise. The Los Angeles Rams are praying this doesn’t happen, but sometimes, the football gods have spotty hearing.
