The Cleveland Browns just released edge rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo, cutting ties with the final year of his 3-year, $19 million deal. For a Los Angeles Chargers team thin behind Tuli Tuipulotu at weakside linebacker, this is a move worth considering.
Ogbo fits best as a weakside linebacker in a 3-4 base, where he can rush from a two-point stance with speed, bend, and violence.
Would Ogbo Okoronkwo Be A Fit For Los Angeles Chargers?

He’s not built for the strong side like Khalil Mack, but behind Tuipulotu, he could thrive in a rotational role. Right now, the depth there is Kyle Kennard, Caleb Murphy, and Kylan Guidry: all unproven.
Okoronkwo put up 5 sacks in 2023 before injuries slowed him down in Cleveland. With violent hands and quick get-off, he’s flashed in every stop with the Rams, Texans, and Browns.

He doesn’t need to be a starter, but he can be a difference-maker on third down and give the Chargers another wave in their pass rush. The 2018 fifth-round pick of the Rams has 17 sacks in his career.
This defense is shifting under Jesse Minter to a faster, more versatile front. Adding Ogbo keeps Tuipulotu fresh, raises the floor for the edge room, and gives the Chargers an easy upgrade without a long-term risk.
If the price is right, it’s a smart move.
