Like all 32 NFL teams, the Los Angeles Chargers are busy identifying ways to upgrade their roster. While other teams are seemingly starting from scratch after disappointing seasons, the Chargers already have a leg up on their competition by coming off an 11-win season that resulted in a playoff appearance.
Yet, the Chargers still have a few weaknesses that general manager Joe Hortiz aims to address but the 2025 NFL Draft presents the perfect opportunity to both get younger and add star potential. Not only do the Chargers boast the 22nd overall pick in the first round, but they have a total of 10 draft selections, so they’ll be especially busy during the three-day event.
Now we have a better idea of one of the players the Chargers are working hard to gather information on and he happens to be the son of a Pro Football Hall of Famer.

Los Angeles Chargers set pre-draft meeting with Mason Taylor

Even after signing Tyler Conklin to be the likely new starter, tight end has been one of the most commonly linked Los Angeles Chargers draft targets this April. Michigan’s Colston Loveland is a popular pick, especially thanks to coach Jim Harbaugh’s connection to the former Wolverines star.
However, there are several other needs the Chargers could still address, even including fellow Michigan star defensive tackle Kenneth Grant, among others. If the Chargers do fall in love with a non-tight end with their first pick, they’re likely to circle back to the position later on.
One potential target could be LSU’s Mason Taylor, who the Chargers are reportedly bringing in for an official visit on Thursday, well ahead of the NFL Draft. Taylor is coming off a successful college career with the Tigers, where he recorded 129 receptions for 1,308 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
The son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Taylor and the nephew of former Dolphins teammate Zach Thomas, Mason certainly has the NFL bloodlines to have a long, successful career, and it might even happen with the Chargers.
