The Los Angeles Chargers were dealt a brutal blow in losing starting left tackle Rashawn Slater for the season.
Yesterday, head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters that they would work out some free agents this weekend and assess if they wanted to sign anyone.
Today, the team decided to make a move as they have signed veteran offensive tackle David Sharpe.
Chargers are signing OT David Sharpe who previously played for the Ravens from 21’-22’ and reunites with one his former offensive coordinators Greg Roman. https://t.co/FqWNVMxPjM

Los Angeles Chargers Sign OT David Sharpe
Sharpe was drafted in the 4th round of the 2017 NFL Draft. The Los Angeles Chargers will be his 7th NFL Franchise. He is still only 29 years old, but has not played meaningful snaps since the 2021 season with the Baltimore Ravens.
He has played a total of 662 snaps over the entirety of his career, as he has spent most of his time on different teams’ practice squads.
He does, however, reunite with offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who was his offensive coordinator in Baltimore.
While you never know what can happen, this signing signals that the Chargers and Harbaugh feel good about the guys they have in the room, and this is purely a depth signing.

Harbaugh mentioned yesterday that their plan was to move Joe Alt to left tackle, and then have swing tackle Trey Pipkins III play right tackle.
Mekhi Becton is another player with tackle versatility. He was drafted as a tackle by the New York Jets, but finally found success when the Philadelphia Eagles moved him to guard. He would be an option in a worst-case scenario, but he is best suited to stay at guard.
Rashawn Slater is not a player that you can simply replace, but the Chargers do have some quality depth.
