Los Angeles Chargers Suffer Critical Injury News On NFL Roster Cut Down Day

The Los Angeles Chargers were a little bit behind in announcing their final roster cuts, but those have now been released, and there was some brutal news in the injury department.

Per the Chargers wire, second-year linebacker Junior Colson was put on injured reserve with no designation for return, meaning that his 2025 season is over.

A brutal blow for a player who had an opportunity to seize a starting role this year.

Colson is entering his 2nd season after being drafted in the 3rd round in 2024 out of Michigan. He had an injury-filled 2024 campaign, but did see the field in 11 games, where he garnered 29 tackles and a pass defensed.

The extent of his injury, or what it is, has not yet been disclosed.

Colson has plenty of time to turn things around, but so far, his career does not match the hype that he had coming out of college. He reunited with his head coach (Jim Harbaugh) and his DC (Jesse Minter), and the thought was that he would pick up right where he left off.

Unfortunately, that has not been the case, largely due to injuries.

The Los Angeles Chargers, however, do have solid depth at the linebacker position. Daiyan Henley and Denzel Perryman are viewed as the starters on the inside. Troy Dye is a quality backup, and Marlowe Wax was the surprise of training camp and the preseason.

Junior Colson will have to opportunity to regain form and attempt to take over one of the starting spots next season.

Thoughts, Bolt Fam?
