Campbell initially joined Harbaugh’s Michigan staff in 2022 as an offensive analyst. He was subsequently promoted to quarterbacks coach in 2023, working closely with former first-round draft pick JJ McCarthy. His success in this role led to a further promotion to offensive coordinator under first-year head coach Sherrone Moore in 2024. However, under Campbell’s leadership, Michigan’s offense struggled, ranking among the nation’s lowest-performing units in 2024. Offensive inefficiencies were attributed to issues with quarterback play and a lack of creative play-calling.

Despite the initial optimism surrounding the offense, it did not demonstrate substantial progress throughout the 2024 season. Consequently, at the end of the regular season, Coach Moore and the University of Michigan made the decision to part ways with Campbell, concluding his time as the team’s offensive coordinator.
