Tom Pelissero reports that the Los Angeles Chargers are scheduled to host former Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram for a visit on Tuesday. This visit follows Engram’s meeting with the Denver Broncos on Monday.

Engram, 30, entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick by the New York Giants in 2017, following his collegiate career at Ole Miss. He played under a four-year rookie contract valued at $10,718,304. In 2020, as he entered the final year of this contract, the Giants exercised his fifth-year option for the 2021 season, guaranteeing him approximately $6 million.
In 2022, Engram signed a one-year, $9 million contract with the Jaguars. He was poised to become an unrestricted free agent in 2023, but the Jaguars utilized the franchise tag, guaranteeing him $11.345 million for the 2023 season. Subsequently, Engram and the Jaguars reached a three-year contract extension worth $41.25 million.
Evan Engram’s 2024 season was cut short due to a torn labrum in his shoulder, requiring surgery. Subsequently, the Jacksonville Jaguars released him to alleviate a $19.5 million cap hit in 2025, the final year of his contract. While he will turn 31 shortly before the upcoming season, Engram’s capabilities as a receiving threat remain evident.
He maintains his speed and agility, excelling in creating separation on various route concepts, particularly those involving crossers, overs, posts, and fades. Although his role in Jacksonville emphasized shorter routes, his ability to generate yards after the catch is a notable asset. While Engram isn’t considered dominant at the catch point and occasionally experiences drops, his overall receiving prowess is undeniable. Despite not being renowned for his blocking, he compensates for his lack of size with consistent effort in this area. Given his skill set, Engram is expected to attract interest from multiple teams, even if he ultimately accepts a short-term contract.
