The Chargers will square off against the Detroit Lions on July 31, 2025. Kickoff will take place at 8:00 PM EST or 5:00 PM PST.

The game will be broadcast on NBC, per the Chargers. Historically, the Sunday Night Football broadcasters have covered the game, treating it like a dress rehearsal. Assuming the pattern holds, Mike Tirico and Chris Collinsworth will be in the booth to call the game, giving the Chargers a “bonus” primetime game this season.

The showdown will take place at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Known as the Hall of Fame game, the game will be preceded by a ceremony welcoming the new Hall of Fame class.
Are The Chargers Expected To Play Their Starters?
The vast majority of head coaches have chosen against playing their starters in past Hall of Fame games, meaning Harbaugh is highly likely to do the same thing. Players on the roster bubble, like Jalen Reagor and Brenden Rice, are also likely to get plenty of work. Of course, this assumes that the Los Angeles Chargers don’t cut anyone in the opening days of training camp.
Chargers vs Lions Final Score Prediction
Both offenses are expected to use generic plays with players who might not be on the team in September. Fans will get to sit down to watch a game but don’t expect a shootout.
Both offenses could get into the high tens and low 20s, and if there’s a situation near the end of the game in which either coach has a chance to play for overtime, they most likely will choose any other route.
Meaning? Expect a final fourth-down attempt instead of taking a field goal, a two-point conversion try, or even perhaps a simple run or kneel. There should be plenty of entertaining moments, but the game will ultimately serve as an appetizer for what is to come.
