Injury Breakdown

The good news here is that QB Justin Herbert was not listed with an injury designation, despite being limited in practice throughout the entire week, indicating he’s close to being back to full strength.

Pipkins (6’6, 307 lb) and Molden (5’10, 192 lb), who are both listed as doubtful and are trending towards not playing this week. Both have logged DNP (Did Not Participate) practice designations all week, hinting at the severity of their respective injuries.

As insurance, the Chargers have elected to elevate veteran safety Marcus Williams (6’0, 195 lb) to fill the three-safety set packages defensive coordinator Jessie Minter likes to throw out alongside Derwin James, Tony Jefferson, and rookie R.J. Mickens.

Is Jim Harbaugh The Real Life Ted Lasso?

WR Derius Davis, who functions as the primary punt and kick returner for the Chargers, was knocked out early against the Eagles last week and was unable to return to the contest.

A combination of WR Ladd McConkey, RB Kimani Vidal, and WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith will pick up the slack in the return game. Undrafted rookie WR Dalevon Campbell, out of South Carolina, was also elevated for the game to help take the workload off the receiver corps. At 6’4 220 lb, he’s primarily a downfield threat with great speed and contested catch abilities, so expect him to make a splash play if he ends up getting snaps on offense.
