GM Say Los Angeles Chargers In No Hurry To Sign Another WR, Amid Keenan Allen Rumors

The Los Angeles Chargers may not be finished building their wide receiver room for the 2025 season, despite already making several notable additions this offseason.

General Manager Joe Hortiz re-signed veteran Mike Williams in free agency, added second-round pick Tre Brown, and took KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the fifth round of the draft. Still, Hortiz made it clear this week that the team remains open to strengthening the position further.

Appearing on Up & Adams, Hortiz emphasized that roster evaluations are still underway and any final decisions will come after the rookie minicamp and organized team activities. “I think we’re going to see what we have out there this weekend and through OTAs,” Hortiz said. “But I’d never say we’re done adding anything. Any chance we can get — if we need the help, if we can help improve the team and the competitiveness of the team and competition at the position.”

While the Chargers already have intriguing pieces, there’s no proven top-tier option following the departures of Keenan Allen and Josh Palmer. Brown is expected to contribute early, and Williams’ return adds experience, but Hortiz’s comments suggest the front office remains mindful of both immediate impact and long-term development.

During the interview, host Kay Adams brought up the possibility of a reunion with Keenan Allen, now a free agent. Hortiz, however, didn’t hint at any ongoing pursuit or interest in reuniting the former Pro Bowler with Williams.

With a savvy coaching staff and a revamped offense around quarterback Justin Herbert, the Chargers seem committed to keeping their options open. As Hortiz noted, if a move can improve the team’s overall competitiveness, the door remains open.
