The Chargers have inked first-round pick outside linebacker Akheem Mesidor to a rookie contract.
Selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Los Angeles and Mesidor finalized a four-year contract that includes $20.46 million that is fully guaranteed, along with a standard fifth-year option. The contract was first reported by ESPN insider Adam Schefter.
Los Angeles Chargers Sigh Akheem Mesidor
At 6’3 258 lbs, Mesidor was a key component for the Miami Hurricanes’ run to the National Championship. Although they finished just short of their goal, Mesidor was a force to be reckoned with throughout the season. He wrapped up his final collegiate season with 63 tackles, 17.5 TFL’s, 12.5 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles.

Mesidor’s versatility along the defensive line and unrelenting motor will pair well with Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu, forming a lethal pass rush rotation.
Fourth-round wide receiver Brenen Thompson remains the only unsigned rookie in the Chargers’ 2026 draft class.
