In a surprising move, former Los Angeles Chargers safety Nasir Adderley has signed with the Indianapolis Colts to an undisclosed contract. The signing was announced by the Colts.
Nasir Adderley, Former Chargers Safety
A second-round pick (60) back in 2019 out of Delaware, Adderley suited up for the power blue and gold for four seasons before abruptly retiring in March of 2023.
At the time, Adderley wrote this on Instagram for his reasoning to hang it up, “Over the past couple of years, I have denied this realization, but I’m finally going to put myself first for once. My health is above anything, and everyone around me knows that.”

Down the back stretch of the 2022 season, Adderley began to be phased out of the starting lineup, with the emergence of fellow safety and current Kansas City Chief, Alohi Gilman. Gilman also started over Adderley in the heartbreaking Chargers wild-card playoff loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He was able to fulfill his rookie contract and reach free agency as an unrestricted free agent.
During his tenure with the Chargers, the 6’0, 206 lb safety racked up 232 tackles, 4 TFL’s, 2 FF, 0.5 sack, 12 PD’s, and 3 INT’s in 50 career games.
The now 28-year-old had a change of heart back in February of 2026, which led him to announce his unretirement. Now with the Colts, he’ll be back in football for the first time in over three years. We wish the best of luck to Nasir as he ventures forward in his football journey.
