The Los Angeles Chargers picked up a hard-fought 29-27 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, improving to 4-2 on the season. While the victory was crucial, attention quickly turned to safety Derwin James after a wrist hit during the game.
According to Daniel Popper, X-rays on James’ wrist came back negative. Head coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed the news, alleviating concerns about a potentially serious injury.
“X-rays were negative. He’ll be fine,” Harbaugh said.
James, a defensive cornerstone, contributed to the win with five tackles (one solo) and a key interception on the final play, his first of the season. Impressively, he has now recorded at least one interception in five consecutive seasons, underscoring his reliability in the secondary.
Derwin James Frustrated Despite The Chargers’ Win

Despite the win, James expressed frustration with the defense’s late-game performance. The Chargers led 23-13 entering the fourth quarter but allowed touchdowns from Devon Achane and Darren Waller, nearly letting Miami pull off a comeback.
“We expected to close the game out earlier. We can’t let teams hang around like that,” James said.
The victory provides the Chargers with momentum heading into Week 7 against a red-hot Indianapolis Colts team. With James healthy, Los Angeles can rely on his leadership and playmaking ability as the defense faces a critical stretch of the schedule.
“A win is a win, but we have to clean up our execution,” James added, emphasizing the need for sharper play in the back half of the season.
The Bolts’ ability to survive a late Dolphins surge without losing a key player bodes well for their playoff hopes. With James at full strength, LA enters Week 7 better positioned to maintain defensive stability while building toward a potential postseason push.
