The Los Angeles Chargers are adjusting their game plan Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts after new injury developments. Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports that offensive tackle Austin Deculus (ankle) has returned to the game, while defensive lineman Otito Ogbonnia (elbow) has been ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
Defensive Line Update
Ogbonnia suffered an elbow injury early in the first quarter and will now miss the rest of the game. In his absence, Naquan Jones and Scott Matlock will continue to see increased snaps at defensive end, stepping up to maintain pressure on the Colts’ offensive line. The Chargers will need them to perform at a high level to compensate for the loss of one of their key front-line defenders.

Is Jim Harbaugh The Real Life Ted Lasso?
Deculus, who briefly left the game after sustaining an ankle injury in the first quarter, returned at left tackle for the second frame. His presence is a relief for a Chargers line already stretched thin by injuries. Against the Dolphins, the unit consisted of Deculus, Zion Johnson, Bradley Bozeman, Mekhi Becton, and Bobby Hart from left to right. While that group faced a manageable pass rush in Miami, the Colts present a significantly tougher challenge.
The potential return of Joe Alt, who has been limited in practice after moving to left tackle following Rashawn Slater’s season-ending knee injury, would provide an additional boost for the offensive front.
Backfield and Game Outlook
Running back Kimani Vidal made the most of his first NFL start in place of Omarion Hampton, who remains on injured reserve due to an ankle injury sustained on Oct. 5 against Washington. Vidal’s performance offered some stability, but the Chargers will need continued consistency along the offensive line and in the backfield to remain competitive against a Colts team known for defensive intensity.
The status of Ogbonnia and Deculus will continue to shape Los Angeles’ approach. With Deculus back in the lineup and Ogbonnia sidelined, the Chargers must adapt quickly to protect quarterback Justin Herbert and sustain pressure on Indianapolis’ offense.
