Chargers Cornerback Tarheeb Still Changes Jersey To Iconic Number

The Chargers’ social media team recently posted a video showing a number change by starting cornerback Tarheeb Still at practice.

CB, Tarheeb Still #4

After sporting #29 the past two seasons with the Bolts, Still (6’1 196lb) dons the same single-digit number during his time in college with the Maryland Terrapins.

Drafted in the fifth round in the 2024 NFL Draft, Still has played above his draft status through his versatility and playmaking ability, which has made him a starter on this stingy Los Angeles defense.

The new number, ironically, goes well with Still’s production during his rookie season, when he secured 4 INTs, including 1 pick-six, helping him finish seventh in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.

The History Behind The Number

The number last worn by backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke, who recently announced his retirement, was more notably associated with another former quarterback currently with the Chargers.

That player was none other than head coach Jim Harbaugh, who played with the then San Diego Chargers from 1999 to 2000.

Hopefully, the new number change gives Still some new swagger heading into year three of his career, as the Chargers defense prepares to gear up with new defensive coordinator Chris O’Leary at the helm this season.
