Los Angeles Chargers fans have quietly hoped for a reunion with longtime wide receiver Keenan Allen—one of the most beloved players in recent franchise history. LA still has a clear need at the position, and Allen, after spending over a decade in powder blue, is a known and proven asset.
But until Allen officially puts pen to paper, anything remains on the table—including the nightmare scenario no fan wants to consider: Allen joining the rival Kansas City Chiefs.
Chargers and Chiefs Named Good Keenan Allen Landing Spots

That unsettling possibility was floated this week by former Chargers and Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. during an appearance on The Up & Adams Show.
“[The] Chiefs might be a good pickup for him, you know? But I don’t know if he wants to go there,” Harris said. “The Chargers could still use him, right? They might as well bring the band back, they already got Mike [Williams] back, so they might as well bring Keenan back. He’s probably already living there so it’s going to be interesting to see where he goes.”
Harris’ suggestion hit hard—especially the first part. Imagining Allen catching passes from Patrick Mahomes in a Chiefs jersey is enough to make most LA fans nauseous. It would be a surreal and painful turn for a fan base that cheered him for 11 seasons.
Yes, the second part of Harris’s comments tracks. The Chargers did recently bring back Mike Williams, and the idea of reuniting the pair for one more run with Justin Herbert is appealing. Allen still resides in Los Angeles, and his return would immediately bolster an otherwise thin receiving corps.
But the Chiefs? That’s a different story.
As unlikely (and emotionally devastating) as it would be, a move to Kansas City isn’t completely irrational from Allen’s perspective. He’d join a Super Bowl contender that needs proven wideouts and would give him a legitimate chance at chasing a championship in the twilight of his career.
Still, the hope is that Harris—whose stint with LA was unremarkable and whose relationship with fans was rocky—was simply stirring the pot. Suggesting Allen to Kansas City feels like a troll job aimed squarely at a loyal fanbase.
Until Allen signs a contract—whether with the Chargers or another team—fans will remain on edge. But if he does decide to chase a ring in Kansas City, it’ll be one of the toughest pills LA fans have had to swallow in years.
