The Los Angeles Chargers get their third straight divisional game as they host the 1-1 Denver Broncos at SoFi Stadium on Sunday.
It is no secret that the Chargers have struggled with away fans showing up in droves at their home stadium. This even dates back to their time playing in San Diego. What can we say, Southern California is one of the most desirable places to visit in the country, so every away fan circles it on the calendar when the schedule is released.
Chargers fans have done a better job during the Harbaugh era of holding on to their tickets, but certain teams will still consistently draw a large number of away fans to games—one of those teams is the Denver Broncos.

Broncos star wide receiver Courtland Sutton was asked about the Broncos fan base and how well they travel, and he responded with a subtle shot at Chargers fans.
“I think it’s hilarious, there’s always a point in the game where you hear ‘let’s go Broncos’… I don’t wanna start no beef or nothing, but it’s always funny how another set of fans won’t really wanna start that chant until they hear Broncos Country hitting the chant.”

“It’s not like a little small corner of the stadium, it’s like nah, it sounds like, we in there, which we are. It’s cool to be able to have that fan base.”
Do Away Fans Still Takeover Los Angeles Chargers Home Games?
Living in Los Angeles, there is a large contingent of Broncos fans who live in LA. With no football in the city for 20+ years, there is a large number of fans for all NFL teams. That is just the way it is, and is what both the Chargers, and Los Angeles Rams, will continue to deal with.
However, the Chargers have done a tremendous job in building their fan base in LA and attracting the young fans who will grow up with the team and eventually become season ticket holders.
Every year, it has gotten better, and it will continue to do so. That being said, the game day experience is a lot of fun when you have a lot of opposing fans to jaw with (respectfully, of course). Sunday should be no different.
One thing is for sure: Chargers fans hope to see a lot of sad fans in orange leaving on the escalators after a Broncos loss.
