What The Betting Odds Reveal About The Chargers Chances To Beat The Broncos

The Los Angeles Chargers are favored by 3 points against the Denver Broncos in their Week 6 matchup scheduled to be played on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1:05 PST, at Empower Field at Mile High. This is despite their recent victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in which they scored 34 points, almost 15 more points than their season average.

Chargers Favored By Three Heading Into Denver

Meanwhile, the Chargers get a chance to rest and recuperate coming off a Week 5 bye, or what head coach Jim Harbaugh called, ‘opportunity week.’ The bye couldn’t have come at a better time for the team, who dropped to 2-2 after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs 10-17 in which they played without several starters, including starting offensive tackles, Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt.

The over/under for the game is set at 36.5 points. LA has a strong defense, allowing an average of 12.5 points per game. Their offense has been less productive, averaging just 17.0 points per game. Denver has a slightly better defensive average of 14.6 points per game and is averaging 19.2 points per game offensively.

The Broncos have dominated the matchup in recent years, winning the last three matchups. However, LA is looking to break that streak and secure a victory in this divisional contest.

Although recent history is hard to consider for these two teams who have undergone sweeping changes from their rosters to their coaching staffs. The Chargers look nothing like they did last year adding 10 new starters through the draft and free agency. The Broncos are in their second season under Sean Payton but moved on from their 2023 starting quarterback, Russell Wilson, and drafted his replacement, Bo Nix.

They were far more conservative than the Chargers in free agency, with their biggest moves being more about who left than who they signed, including losing inside linebacker Josey Jewel, center Lloyd Cushenberry, and safety Justin Simmons. They also traded wide receiver Jerry Juedy to the Cleveland Browns.
