Week 1 of the NFL season has finally arrived and the Los Angeles Chargers host the Las Vegas Raiders at SoFi Stadium later today. The Chargers inactives have been announced before kickoff.
This is the beginning of the Jim Harbaugh era, and there is a ton of excitement surrounding this team. The team released their inactive list for the game, and unfortunately, a former USC Trojan will have to wait a little longer before making his NFL Debut.
Former Trojan, Brenden Rice, had a really nice camp, and the thought was that he could actually be involved in the offensive game plan from the start, but after being made inactive, he will have to wait at least another week before he can follow in his Hall of Fame Father’s footsteps of playing in the NFL.
Another somewhat surprising scratch is RB Kimani Vidal. We know that Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins will essentially split backfield duties, but Vidal had a really nice camp and made waves among the coaching staff. I would expect that we will see him sooner than later on the active game-day roster.
Recently acquired QB Taylor Heinicke is inactive, but with the new rule, can still serve as the emergency third QB.
Kickoff is set for 1:05 PM PT at Sofi Stadium.
