Giants Make Big Decision on Jaxson Dart’s Game Status Ahead Of Thursday Night Football vs Cowboys

The New York Giants have confirmed that quarterback Jaxson Dart will suit up for Thursday night’s NFC East showdown against the Dallas Cowboys. Ian Rapoport reported, “Jaxson Dart was a full participant today and told reporters he’s playing on Thursday.” The decision comes despite Dart being listed on the team’s injury report earlier this week with a hamstring issue.

Head coach Brian Daboll emphasized that Dart remains on track to play, noting during Tuesday’s press conference that the start will be Dart’s third since being promoted and his first against an NFC East opponent. Dart impressed in Sunday’s 26-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints, going 26-of-40 for 202 yards with two touchdowns, two interceptions, and a fumble. While New York led 14-3 midway through the game, the Saints responded with 23 unanswered points, underscoring the challenges ahead for Dart and New York on a short week.

Wide receiver Darius Slayton remains an open question after being listed as out of practice with a hamstring injury for the second straight day. Right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor (back), linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring), and linebacker Swayze Bozeman (ankle) were all non-participants in practice. Daboll, however, expressed hope that running back Tyrone Tracy, sidelined with a shoulder injury for the last two games, could return against the Cowboys.

Dart’s Role and Outlook For Thursday Night Football

Dart, New York’s first-round pick out of Ole Miss in 2025, was thrust into the starting role over Russell Wilson after inconsistent play from the veteran quarterback. Through five games, Dart has thrown for 313 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. His performance against New Orleans, combined with his full participation in practice this week, gives the Giants some clarity heading into a critical NFC East clash. With the Cowboys preparing for a primetime tilt at MetLife Stadium, Dart’s health and leadership will be key to New York’s chances of snapping its early-season struggles.
