With spring camp coming to an end for the USC Trojans, the second stint of coaches hitting the road for recruiting is beginning. May is a month when the coaching staff will put a lot of miles on travel cards, as they visit dozens of states and a vast number of high schools and living rooms.
However, there is one elite prospect that they will not have to travel far for, and they seem to be picking up some steam.
4-star wide receiver Madden Williams is currently committed to Texas A&M, but don’t count the USC Trojans out to potentially flip the elite St. John Bosco prospect.
USC Trojans In The Hunt For WR Madden Williams
Williams has been committed to Texas A&M since the end of 2024, but the Trojans have been pushing for a flip, especially with the arrival of GM Chad Bowden and Tight Ends/Inside Receivers Coach Chad Savage.
“I’ve loved being able to talk with Coach Savage, being able to talk with Coach Bowden and Coach Riley,” Williams told On3 in an interview. “Just being able to continue to go on the journey that we’ve been on together, just continuing to build relationships and getting to know them on a personal level. I would say they’re definitely pushing the envelope.”
Williams is a special player who, honestly, is better than his ranking from the recruiting sites would indicate. On3 ranks him as the 49th receiver in the class, while Rivals has him as the 14th-best wide receiver. He is extremely versatile and can play from the slot and on the outside.
At 6’2, 185 pounds, he would give the USC Trojans a player who can do a ton of different things, schematically.
On3 asked Williams about his versatility and fit with the USC Trojans.
“I would say USC can potentially be a good fit from the way they use their wide receiver one, kinda how they move Ja’Kobi Lane around and find the best matchup for him. I feel like one of my strong suits is how I match up with a defender. No one person could guard me either inside or outside. And I would say they definitely do a great job there.
Williams also spoke on playing for Lincoln Riley and why that is good for a receiver.
“Lincoln Riley, obviously, he definitely throws the rock a lot and has had Heisman quarterbacks. So, he’s definitely gonna be passing the ball, so that’s obviously good as a receiver being able to do that. USC has been able to get wide receivers out through the draft and go to the NFL. So that’s definitely all upsides for them.”

The assistant coaches all met with the media today [Wednesday], and I was able to speak with Coach Savage. Not speaking on any specifics, he mentioned that the staff hopes to add two more inside receivers.
As stated, Williams can both inside and out, but Savage has been a huge part of his recruitment, and that should continue all the way until signing day.
Williams currently has 4 official visits scheduled, and USC is one of those four.
- Washington – May 30
- Florida State – June 6
- USC Trojans – June 13
- Texas A&M – June 20
USC was late to the party in offering Williams, which is why they have been playing a bit of catch-up, but they are certainly making strides.
They currently have 3 wide receivers in their 2026 class:
- Trent Mosley
- Kohen Brown
- Ja’Myron (Tron) Baker
Based on how they view guys as inside or outside, it is safe to bet that the total number of commits will be around 5-6. Williams would be a huge get if they can complete the flip.
