USC Trojans Priority Commit Shuts Down Recruitment

The USC Trojans have the No. 1 2026 recruiting class, but the challenging part will be keeping everyone committed all the way to signing day in December.

I have talked about this extensively on the USC LAFB Show, as it will be a much more attainable task this time around versus last year. As it stands, not only is USC’s NIL situation night and day better, but they also have a completely revamped front office, and 64% of their current commits are local from the state of California.

The last two ideals are ringing true in real time.

Top priority commit, 4-star defensive lineman Tomuhini Topui just announced that he will be shutting down his recruitment.

Topui told Hayes Fawcett of On3, “I’m staying home, there’s no other place to be.”

Topui was originally committed to the Oregon Ducks before flipping his commitment to the Trojans just a few weeks ago. Since then, he has been on campus virtually every opportunity, and clearly, he has already built a strong relationship with the coaching staff and players.

“Tom Tom,” as he is known, had an official visit scheduled with Miami for May 30th. That has now been canceled, along with any other visits, aside from his official visit with USC on June 17th.

The 6’3, 330-pound 4-star prospect is the 18th-ranked defensive lineman in the 2026 class, per On3 Industry Rankings.

Coach Dogg has been a massive factor on the recruiting trail and one that the entire coaching staff and GM Chad Bowden have given ample credit for their recent success. Look for him to be a continued force in keeping local kids home and committing to the USC Trojans.
