It was a great weekend for the USC Trojans as elite 4-star linebacker Talanoa Ili announced his commitment to the Trojans on Father’s Day.
It came down to a battle of LA, but Ili ultimately chose to play for the Trojans over the UCLA Bruins.
Over the weekend, USC hosted its second set of official visitors of June. There was a long list of blue-chip players on campus, but only one who was not already committed to the Cardinal and Gold.
That uncommitted player was top-ranked EDGE Luke Wafle.
All indications based on what I have heard are that the visit went extremely well. It was a strategic move by the Trojans to have Wafle surrounded by eight already committed players. Will it pay off?
Insider Drops Crystal Ball For Luke Wafle To Commit To USC Trojans
Our friend USC J is one of the more connected insiders in the world of USC content creators. He just put out a video on his YouTube Channel dropping a crystal ball for the 4-star EGE to commit to the Trojans.
A few months ago, USC was not really even on the radar of Luke Wafle. That changed as they began to hone in on their next batch of EDGE rushers. Both Coach Eric Henderson and Coach Shaun Nua have visited Wafle, and he came to LA for an unofficial visit back in April.
Now, after his official visit weekend, it appears that the Trojans may be the current leader.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong feels this same way as he writes:
“After this past weekend’s official visit to USC, they pushed their way into the forefront of the conversation with Texas, Ohio State, and Penn State.
I wouldn’t sleep on the Trojans moving forward with Wafle. Talking to sources that spent time with him on campus, it was a terrific weekend.”
This is a more tepid response/prediction, but it does symbolize that the USC Trojans certainly made an impact and made up some ground in Wafle’s recruitment.

As of now, he has one final official visit scheduled, this coming weekend at Texas. As of this writing, that appears to still be on the books, but we will see if that changes.
For USC, on the other hand, 5-Star EDGE Trenton Henderson canceled his official visit with the Trojans that was supposed to happen next weekend. That could certainly come from his end, but to me, that signifies that USC has moved on and is honing in on Wafle.
I will not be taking my official visit to USC this weekend.

KJ Ford, a 4-star EDGE out of Texas, is still currently scheduled to visit USC next weekend.
We will keep a close eye on this, but all indications are that Luke Wafle and the USC Trojans are trending towards a union. He is the 10th-ranked EDGE in the class, according to On3 Industry Rankings, and would be the 30th commitment in the USC Trojans’ 2026 class.
If this does happen, shout out USC J, who was on the public prediction first.
