USC Trojans Lose Former Top Defensive Lineman Recruit To Transfer Portal

Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports is reporting that defensive end Solomon (or Solo as many called him) Tuliaupupu has entered the transfer portal.

Solo was a Top-55 recruit back in 2018 and had a ton of upside coming out of Mater Dei. Unfortunately, injuries have plagued his career and he has only appeared in games in 2022 and this past season.

During his seven seasons with the Trojans, he redshirted as a true freshman and then received a medical redshirt the next year after he had foot surgery. He then missed the next two seasons with a knee injury. After playing in 2022, he missed all of 2023 with another injury.

Last year he garnered 13 total tackles and 1 sack.

Losing someone like Solo who has been a part of the program for so long is never easy. He has been through a lot of ups and downs and a head coaching change from Clay Helton to Lincoln Riley.

In terms of on the field, he would have had a tough time getting reps as the Trojans have revamped their defensive line and have a ton of talent in that room, including a pair of defensive tackles, Jah Jarrett and Keeshawn Silver, added in this past transfer portal window.

Tuliaupupu is the 22nd player from the USC Trojans to enter the portal.
