2nd-Ranked LB Puts USC Trojans Among Top Schools

2027 recruiting is beginning to heat up, and the USC Trojans are looking to gain their first commitment of the class. The 2026 Class still holds strong as the No. 1 class in the nation with 32 commits. Lincoln Riley and the Trojans are still looking to add three more to the class before signing day.

The 2027 Class will be much smaller, meaning that the USC Trojans will be a bit more selective in who they prioritize.

One of those recruits is the 2nd-ranked linebacker in the class, Kaden Henderson.

Henderson just released his Top 12, and USC was among the programs to make the cut.

It was about this time last year that the Trojans began ramping up their recruiting efforts for the 2026 class. DB Joshua Holland committed at the end of July, and DL Braeden Jones committed in October.

While the season was a bit of a mess, the Trojans’ staff used the fall to stack visits and build relationships, which then snowballed in the spring. This is what USC aims to do this Fall as well, but they also have the advantage of having GM Chad Bowden and his staff this go around.

The 12 schools that Kaden Henderson included, per Hayes Fawcett of Rivals, are:

  • USC Trojans
  • Ohio State
  • Miami
  • Clemson
  • Notre Dame
  • Alabama
  • Texas A&M
  • Florida State
  • Florida
  • LSU
  • Oregon
  • Tennessee

The 4-star linebacker out of Tampa, Florida (Jesuit High School) is the 2nd-ranked LB in the entire class, and the 26th-ranked overall player, according to Rivals Industry Rankings.

According to the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine, Florida currently leads the way with a 21.4% chance, followed by Clemson at 18.7%. USC is towards the bottom with a 3.6% chance.

Obviously, a lot can change, and the fact that the USC Trojans are in the Top 12 gives them a real shot at landing a commitment.

They go to different high schools, but having two commitments in the 2026 class (Keenyi Pepe and Breck Kolojay) from IMG Academy in the Tampa Bay area could give the Trojans some positives in terms of recruiting someone who is across the country.

We will see if the Trojans get Henderson out for a game at the Coliseum this Fall.
