The USC Trojans have begun the season 4-0, and a huge part of that is thanks to quarterback Jayden Maiava.
After finishing the year 3-1 last season, there were still plenty of questions about whether he was the guy to lead the Trojans in 2025. While the arm talent was evident, the decision-making was questionable at times, and he could play a bit recklessly.
It is still early, but through four games, he is playing like one of the best QBs in all of college football. While it is taking the national public a little bit of time to catch up, statistically speaking, Maiava should be the current favorite to win the Heisman.

If Maiava stays on his current pace, he will finish the season with 3,669 yards passing, 27 passing touchdowns, and 12 rushing touchdowns. If USC made the Big Ten Championship game, he would be able to add to this stat line.
These kinds of numbers, and a successful season for the USC Trojans, would all but guarantee Jayden Maiava as a finalist for College Football’s most prestigious award, the Heisman Trophy.
The USC Trojans travel to Champaign this Saturday to play the 23rd-ranked Illinois Fighting Illini at 9:00 AM PT on FOX.
