We are just under two hours away from the USC Trojans kicking off their 2025 season against the Missouri State Bears.
It has been an offseason full of positive developments, and there is a ton of momentum surrounding the program. Now it is time to put it all out on the field.
Head Coach Lincoln Riley made the decision to name captains each week, instead of naming season-long captains. However, he mentioned in a press conference last week that the same players can hold the honor each week if they continue to demonstrate elite leadership.
Here are the Trojans’ captains for this week’s game:
- QB Jayden Maiava
- LB Eric Gentry
- S Kamari Ramsey
- DL Devan Thompkins
- C Kilian O’Connor

USC Trojans Name Team Captains Against Missouri State
When you look at the state of the team, these five captains just feel like the leaders of the team.
Maiava has grown a ton as a leader, and his teammates have all mentioned how he has gotten more vocal.
We all know the passion that Eric Gentry exudes; this is no surprise. The question always is how he will harness that passion, and how he can stay on the field for an entire season.

Kamari Ramsey is a quiet leader. This is now his 3rd season in D’Anton Lynn’s system (both spent one year together at UCLA), and his 2nd season with the Trojans.
Devan Thompkins has been one of the stars of this offseason and is a player who is probably the most slept-on defensive player on the roster.
And finally, Kilian O’Connor. The former walk-on earned a scholarship and is now the starting center of the USC Trojans. All of his teammates rave about his leadership.
