The USC Trojans welcomed the Georgia Southern Eagles to the Coliseum on Saturday evening in what was Clay Helton’s return. It was a matchup that severely favored the Trojans, and the outcome resembled the prediction.
There was never a fear that the USC Trojans would lose this game, but when you play an opponent that is beneath you, not all wins are created equal. The defense was a bit sloppy, which we will talk about at a later time, but the offense was dominant and looks like a unit that will live up to the Lincoln Riley hype.
When the clock reached zero, the offense finished with 59 points and an astonishing 755 total yards. Shockingly, it is not the most yards that the Trojans have put up. That feat was done by the 1925 team when they garnered 978 yards against Pomona College.
USC has 755 yards of total offense, which is still a ways off from its all-time record.

The record belongs to the 1925 Trojans, who piled up 978 yards (!!!) against Pomona College.

USC Trojans Put Up Insane Offensive Stats
Jayden Maiava finished the night with 412 yards passing and 4 touchdowns, with a 67% completion percentage. While he wasn’t perfect, he looked extremely calm and confident running the offense. You can tell that things are slowing down for him.
The two-star receivers stole the show.
Makai Lemon is looking like the most consistent wideout in the Big Ten right now. His route running is unreal, and his ability to create separation is why he has the ability to be a first-round pick in next year’s NFL Draft.

He finished this game with 4 catches for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also demonstrated high-end breakaway speed, which he does not get enough credit for.
Ja’Kobi Lane stole the show with one of the craziest catches you will ever see.

He finished the game with 3 catches, 91 yards, and 1 historic touchdown.
The USC Trojans were very efficient on the ground as well. They finished with 308 rushing yards, led by Waymond Jordan’s 167 yards and a touchdown. Eli Sanders added 52 yards and 2 touchdowns.
It was a great night for the offense, and one that they can certainly build upon heading into conference play.
