Lincoln Riley Provides USC Trojans Injury Update: Who’s In, Who’s Out?

The USC Trojans are 1-0 and look to notch their second win of the season when they take on Georgia Southern at the Coliseum on Saturday.

During our Friday Zoom call with Lincoln Riley, Coach provided some injury updates on who is expected to suit up and who will be out for the contest.

Lincoln Riley Provides USC Trojans Injury Update

WR Prince Strachan was injured late in the Missouri State game after he was taken down out of bounds after a big play. In the moment, the injury appeared to be bad, and there was fear that he would miss an extended period of time.

However, he did practice in a limited capacity this week. So it seems that while he will miss this weekend’s game, he should be back on the field soon, barring any setbacks.

Defensive Back Alex Graham was injured during the week of practice leading up to the season opener. We still don’t know the extent of the injury, nor what he actually injured, but he will miss his second game in a row.

Riley has not expanded on whether he will miss a good deal of time, or if it is a minor injury that they are just being cautious with, but his limited comments on it leave it a mystery.

Graham was one of the biggest standouts in fall camp and is expected to have a large role in the secondary as a true freshman. We will provide any updates that we receive.

USC Trojans transfer kicker Caden Chittenden will also miss his second game in a row. Ryon Sayeri got the start as the place kicker last week, and he will assume those duties this week as well.

Running back Bryan Jackson is a bit of a surprise. The nature of his injury has not been disclosed, and it is unknown if it happened during the game last Saturday or during practice this week. However, the fact that he is listed as doubtful as opposed to out, reveals that it is likely nothing serious and he should be back in action next week.

On the positive front, it looks like both DL Jahkeem Stewart and DB Chasen Johnson will make their debuts on Saturday.

Stewart is one of the most highly anticipated recruits in recent memory. He was held out last week with a minor leg injury, but he will look to make an impact early and often in his first action.

Chasen Johnson is seen as one of the starting DBs in a very deep room. It will be great to get him back in the lineup as he missed a good majority of fall camp, so these reps are going to be vital in getting him up to speed ahead of conference play.

The USC Trojans are set to kick off against Georgia Southern at 4:30 PM PT at the Coliseum on Saturday. The game will air on FS1.
