USC Trojans HC Lincoln Riley Provides Massive Injury Update On Star Player

We just wrapped up our Thursday media availability with USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley, and he provided a huge update on star wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane.

Since the start of Fall Camp, Lane has been limited with an undisclosed injury. The staff and Riley made it clear that they were not concerned and they had full confidence that he would be ready to go by the start of the season, but with each passing day, we began to wonder what was going on.

Riley provided an update that Lane is a “full go” and is ready for the season opener.

As great as this news is, it was a bit wild to hear that Lane broke his foot in May.

Riley’s full quote:

“Ya, Ja’Kobi’s a full go now, been a full go now for probably the last 4 or 5 days. Was kind of a buildup from there. He had a broken foot in May, so had to heal up from that, but has been doing well, and progressed even a little bit ahead of schedule, so ya, he’s been full go here for about the last week.”

In order for the Trojans to have a successful 2025 campaign, Lane is one of the integral pieces. His skillset is so different than the other receivers, and he is a mismatch nightmare for opposing defenses.

He finished last year with 12 touchdowns, one of the top numbers in the Big Ten, and hauled in 3 touchdowns in the Trojans’ bowl game against Texas A&M. He also had 3 touchdowns against Notre Dame, demonstrating his ability to rise up in the biggest moments.

Lane, along with Makai Lemon, is set to truly breakout this season and become one of the top wide receivers in the country. He was shockingly left off the Biletnikoff Preseason Watchlist, but he will surely be added to it as the season progresses.

Having him fully healthy still a week out from the season opening is a tremendous sign for the offense, the team, and a fan base starved for excellence.
