UCLA Bruins Add Depth Pieces With Latest Transfer Portal Additions

The UCLA Bruins and head coach DeShaun Foster have done a nice job of filling out the roster through the transfer portal. They have been particularly active in the spring window.

While all the buzz centered around the addition of former Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava, and rightfully so, the Bruins have made numerous other additions that will have a large impact.

One such is the recent additions of Michigan EDGE Kechaun Bennett and Michigan State EDGE Anthony Jones.

Bennett played in 24 games over the past 2 seasons for the Michigan Wolverines. He was a contributor on special teams and a valuable depth piece for the defensive line. He will leave Michigan having amassed 7 total tackles, a quarterback hurry, and one blocked kick.

Bennett was a 3-star recruit out of the state of Connecticut. He was the 45th-ranked EDGE rusher in the 2021 cycle, according to On3 Industry Rankings.

At 6’5, 241 pounds, Bennett will be a nice depth piece for a Bruins team that lost some talent off the edge to the NFL Draft. He will slide in as an immediate special teams contributor.

The Bruins were not done adding to the EDGE room, however, as they also gained the commitment of Michigan State transfer Anthony Jones.

At 6’4, 260 pounds, Jones has tremendous size and talent, however, he has struggled to find a home. The UCLA Bruins will be his 4th stop during his collegiate career.

The 3-star prospect from Las Vegas committed to Oregon out of high school. After appearing in two games, he utilized his redshirt and then transferred to Indiana in the offseason.

After one year and four game appearances for the Hoosiers, Jones hit the portal again and found himself at Michigan State. He would play in 12 games last season for the Spartans before entering the transfer portal again.

Throughout his career, Jones has collected 38 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks.
