The Transfer Portal giveth, and the Transfer Portal taketh away. That is certainly the case for the UCLA Bruins, and has been true for the entire offseason.
Head Coach DeShaun Foster was able to gain the commitment of talented Cal running back Jaivian Thomas just a few days ago, but now that move has yielded a consequence.
True Freshman running back Cameron Jones has entered the transfer portal.

The 6’1, 215-pound running back out of St. John Bosco was a 3-star prospect in the 2024 class.
While T.J. Harden (also left via the transfer portal) was the featured back last year, Jones appeared in seven games but did not record any rushing stats.

He would have competed for reps this season, but with the addition of Thomas and the excitement surrounding incoming 4-star freshman Karson Cox, it would have been an uphill battle for Jones. Jalen Berger, who transferred in last year, will also compete for reps.
Jones was the 53rd-ranked running back in the 2024 class, according to 247 Sports. Being a Southern California native, originally from Rancho Cucamonga, it will be interesting to see where Jones ends up.
