Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers were a part of one of the most blockbuster trades in NBA History. It sent shockwaves through the league and through Luka Doncic himself.
Anytime your life is upended to that magnitude and with that much of a shock, it can take a while to process.
Los Angeles Lakers governor Jeanie Buss recently revealed something about that trade that can make a superhuman star athlete seem very relatable to just about everyone.

In an interview with a Slovenian radio show (@radio1slo on Instagram), Buss spoke on the star’s demeanor.
“Nobody knew the trade was gonna happen. I knew, and he didn’t know. I’ve never had a player come to the Lakers and be as sad as he was…he had to process what happened,” Buss said during the interview.
This is not surprising and is by no means a slight at the Lakers. It’s natural.
Luka had been very outspoken about his love for the Mavericks and for the City of Dallas. He had built roots in the community. All of that was upended in the middle of the night, and his world was rocked.
Luka Doncic And Los Angeles Lakers Happy To Have Each Other
However, I think it is safe to say now that Luka is quite happy to be donning the Purple and Gold. He has a brand new contract extension worth $165 million over three years, and he is the new face of one of the most historic franchises in all of sports.
Buss went on to say, “The last time I saw Kobe Bryant alive, he brought his daughter Gianna to the Lakers game to see Luka play because Luka was Gianna’s favorite player. They’ve always been connected in some way.”
It certainly seems as if Luka Doncic is where he belongs. Now, for the sake of the City of Angels, hopefully, he can bring a Championship home as well.
