The Los Angeles Lakers have executed a franchise-altering trade that will reverberate throughout the NBA for years to come: a blockbuster deal that sent Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Luka Dončić, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris.
The mere concept of this trade – acquiring Luka Dončić, arguably the most electrifying young star in the league, for Anthony Davis – is so audacious that it’s difficult to fully comprehend.

This was not merely a good trade, nor even a great trade. This was a championship-caliber trade. The Lakers, in a bold and decisive move, exchanged a talented but injury-prone Davis, a player who, despite his immense talent, has struggled to consistently carry the team on his own, for a generational offensive force in Dončić.
With this blockbuster deal now finalized, the question on everyone’s mind is: are the Lakers done? With the trade deadline just days away, the possibility of further moves by the Lakers, perhaps to address the inevitable roster imbalances created by the acquisition of Dončić, cannot be ruled out.
Is LeBron James The Next Los Angeles Lakers Player To Be Traded?

The Los Angeles Times’ Bill Plaschke hopes they aren’t done. And he thinks Lebron James is next.
“What if James is unhappy with the departure of a guy he basically brought here?” Plaschke wondered. “What if James doesn’t relish the idea of ending his career alongside a bigger personality who will demand much more of the ball? What if James is angry that a team he once controlled made such a big deal without his apparent approval? What if James agrees to be traded to, say, the Golden State Warriors? What if clearing out their crumbling house of their two cornerstones was the Lakers’ plan all along?”
He then urged James to waive his no-trade clause and demand a trade; “Dear LeBron … ask out.“
Plaschke also suggested that this move is just the first in a larger master plan; “The trading of Anthony Davis is a big step. But it is probably just the first step in what could be the complete reimagining of Lakers greatness.”
While Plaschke acknowledges Doncic as a force to be reckoned with he also knows the Lakers are missing a key piece, Center. A trade with Golden State would hardly meet that need. The Warriors currently rotate rookie Quinten Post and veteran Kevon Looney at the position. While both are quality players, neither are among the top centers in the league.
