Los Angeles Lakers Rising Star To Miss More Time Due To Injury

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without Austin Reaves for the second straight game. The Lakers have downgraded Reaves from questionable to out for their Tuesday matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Reaves, sidelined with a right calf strain, will miss his second consecutive game, having last played on Friday night. He remains listed as day-to-day. In his absence, Gabe Vincent and Dalton Knecht are expected to see increased playing time for the Lakers in their Tuesday game.

Reaves joins Markieff Morris, Jordan Goodwin, and Rui Hachimura on the list of inactive players for this contest.

Reaves exited Friday’s game during the first quarter due to right calf soreness, having played only nine minutes. Assuming his recovery progresses as planned, he is expected to return for their next game, a highly anticipated home matchup against the New York Knicks.

Reaves, at 26 years old, has been a consistently strong contributor for the Lakers, delivering his most impressive season as a professional. In his fourth NBA season, he’s achieved career-high averages across multiple statistical categories, including 19.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, while averaging 34.7 minutes of playing time in 51 appearances.

The Arkansas native has demonstrated his value, at times performing as LA’s most impactful player. Head coach JJ Redick has provided him with the autonomy to play to his strengths, and Reaves has flourished under this approach.
