Los Angeles Clippers Nearing Deal With 3x All Star Free Agent, According To Insiders

Bradley Beal’s time in Phoenix appears to be nearing its end. According to multiple reports, the Suns and Beal are close to finalizing a waive-and-stretch buyout agreement, which would end a partnership that never quite clicked. Beal still has over $110 million remaining on his contract, but he seems willing to forgo around $13.8 million to facilitate a departure and join a team of his choosing—one poised for postseason success.

All signs point toward the Los Angeles Clippers.

League insiders have noted that the Clippers’ recent trade of Norman Powell—an elite scoring wing—to the Miami Heat may have paved the way for Beal’s arrival. With a void in the backcourt and roughly $5.3 million left of their mid-level exception, L.A. has both the roster space and the financial means to bring in the three-time All-Star. Beal could either slot into the starting lineup or serve as a high-impact sixth man, depending on how Tyronn Lue configures a rotation that now includes John Collins, Derrick Jones Jr., and Brook Lopez.

Still, there are calculated risks involved. Beal has missed significant time over the past few seasons, and the Clippers are already a team with fragile health at key positions. Pairing Beal with oft-injured stars Kawhi Leonard and John Collins may test the durability of the roster. But in a tight Western Conference, the upside may be too tantalizing to ignore.

While the Warriors, Bucks, and Lakers remain loosely linked to Beal’s free agency, the Clippers are viewed by many league observers—including The Ringer’s Zach Lowe and The Athletic’s Fred Katz—as the likely landing spot. If Beal joins L.A., Chris Paul—long rumored to have interest in returning to either the Clippers or Suns—could see a path back to Phoenix open up in the aftermath.

Beal’s exit from Phoenix and potential arrival in Los Angeles marks another significant shift in the NBA’s rapidly evolving offseason landscape. For the Clippers, it could be the final piece of a championship-caliber puzzle—or a high-stakes gamble with major upside.
