The Los Angeles Dodgers are back in the World Series after sweeping the 96-win Brewers thanks to the greatest performance in a baseball game we have ever seen. This game ended all debate that Shohei Ohtani is the greatest baseball player of all time.

Before last night, it was a quiet playoffs from Dodgers’ superstar Shohei Ohtani as he had just one hit in the series prior against the Phillies and 2 hits against the Brewers. That would quickly change.

Ohtani opened up the night on the mound as Roberts gave him the starting nod to open up game 4 against the Brewers, and he would remain the team’s leadoff hitter.

After striking out the side in the first inning, the bat was waiting for Ohtani as he quickly ran from the mound to the diamond to get ready to hit. And he started off the game with a towering home run to right field off of Jose Quintana, a pitcher who Ohtani took deep in last year’s NLCS against the Mets.

Ohtani’s home run would lead to 2 more runs from the Dodgers in the bottom of the 1st inning as they pulled ahead 3-0.

But Ohtani was not done yet; in the bottom of the 4th inning, Ohtani crushed the first pitch he saw 470 feet, and it was a no-doubter as he flipped the bat before running to first base.

Ohtani was still not done as he came to the plate one more time in the 7th inning, down 1-2 in the count, Trevor McGill threw a mistake pitch and Shohei Ohtani made him pay, crushing his 3rd home run of the game to deep left center field.

This towering blast put the game out of reach, helping the Dodgers punch their ticket to yet another World Series.

What truly made this performance the greatest baseball game anyone has ever seen is that, in addition to Ohtani’s dominance at the plate, he was just as dominant on the mound, pitching 6 masterful innings, allowing 0 runs, striking out 10, and surrendering just 1 hit to the Brewers.

This means that Ohtani had more hits and obviously more RBIs than he allowed to the entire Brewers team in the 6 innings he pitched.

There is no doubt that this is the greatest game baseball has ever seen. Three home runs while also pitching a shutout, striking out 10 batters, and only allowing 1 hit has never been done before and will never be duplicated, unless of course Ohtani does it again.

In addition to this being the greatest individual baseball game ever witnessed, last night officially ended all debates about who is the greatest player in baseball history. Let’s take a look at what Shohei Ohtani has already accomplished, regardless of whether the Dodgers win or lose the World Series.

He will be a 4x time MVP, 3x silver slugger, 2x home run leader, and a World Series champion. This does not even take into account Ohtani’s dominance on the mound, boasting a 39-20 lifetime record while being able to throw it 100+ miles per hour, giving him the ability to strike out any player in the game.

Then, let’s not forget last year when Ohtani became the first player to ever hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases.

All of this happened after Ohtani had multiple Tommy John surgeries on his elbows, a torn shoulder, and knee and ankle surgeries.

There is no other player in baseball history who can hit 50+ home runs, steal 50+ bases with 4 MVPs, who can shut out an entire team, and, of course, a World Series ring to tie it all together. There is nobody who is able to do what Ohtani has done in baseball history.

Ohtani has ended all doubt; he is the new standard and the greatest baseball player who has ever lived.
