The Los Angeles Dodgers have overcome a myriad of injuries to be one of the best teams in baseball this season. With the MLB trade deadline a month out, the Dodgers’ front office is eyeing a few positions that could make the roster even stronger.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Dodgers will be one of the most aggressive teams at the MLB trade deadline. He wrote that starting pitching, outfield and bullpen are the club’s top targets with a few specific players on their radar.

Los Angeles is reportedly looking for an outfielder who could potentially step up with Michael Conforto struggling. Before his strong performance at Coors Field—going 4-for-9 with 2 home runs—Conforto had a .165/.295/.269 triple-slash line, a .565 OPS, and 63 strikeouts in 212 at-bats.
While the Dodgers statistically have one of the best bullpens in MLB this season, it’s come with a caveat. Entering MLB games today, the Dodgers’ bullpen leads MLB in innings pitched (357). To put that into perspective, the second-closest team has thrown 27 fewer innings, and only four clubs have had their relievers throw 320-plus innings.

One reliever specifically mentioned by Nightengale is Tampa Bay Rays closer Pete Fairbanks. The 31-year-old righty has a 2.03 ERA this season and compiled a 2.81 ERA across 121.2 innings from 2023 to 2025.
As for the starting rotation, Nightengale writes that Miami Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara is the front-line starter the Dodgers want the most. He is available and under club control through 2027, but the former Cy Young Award winner has a 6.69 ERA this season.
