We are just one day away from the MLB Trade Deadline, and the rumors are flying hot and heavy. The Los Angeles Dodgers will undoubtedly be buyers, but just how much will they be willing to spend?
They have already been linked to Steven Kwan, Mason Miller, and Pete Fairbanks, and now another name, perhaps the most coveted name at the trade deadline, has popped up in the ole mill of rumors.
Minnesota Twins reliever Jhoan Duran is a name that is now being heavily linked to the Dodgers, but there seem to be conflicting reports from two of the more heavy-hitting MLB Insiders.
Conflicting Reports On Jhoan Duran Trade Rumors To Los Angeles Dodgers

The NFL has Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport. The NBA had Adrian Wojnarowski and Shams Charania. Now we get a conflicting rumor in the MLB between Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic and Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
According to Nightengale, “The Minnesota Twins are expected to trade closer Jhoan Duran by the end of the day with the Los Angeles Dodgers in strong pursuit.”

The Twins have also been in heavy discussions with the Phillies but have not lowered their asking price of prized pitching prospect Andrew Painter.
This feels like a pretty strong statement from Nightengale, and not one that he would make lightly.
Ken Rosenthal, however, appears to be hearing otherwise.
In his latest update, he states, “The Los Angeles Dodgers are not playing at the high end of the relief market for pitchers such as Miller and Minnesota Twins’ Jhoan Duran, sources say.”
This also feels like a pretty strong and definitive statement. So who is correct?
At this point, it is hard to say.
Hector Gomez, an MLB Insider from the Dominican Republic for Z101 Digital, chimed in, stating that, “The Dodgers and Twins talks about trading Jhoan Duran include a package that includes two of the Dodgers’ Top 10 prospects.”
Does this tip the scales to a potential deal between the two clubs being a reality?
The Dodgers thought they had their closer locked down when they signed Tanner Scott during the offseason. Unfortunately, he is having one of the worst seasons of his career and is currently on the injured list.

Duran, on the other hand, is having one of his best seasons. In 49 games pitched, he has a 2.01 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 53 strikeouts, and 16 saves. He is still just 27 years old.
The Twins’ season has fallen into despair as they are now six games under .500, and sit in 4th place in the AL Central. While they do not want to deal Duran, this might be the hottest his market will be, and they have to be sellers based on how the season has gone.
Will the Dodgers strike gold yet again? Based on Nightingale’s reporting, we should have an answer by this evening.
