While the Los Angeles Dodgers still sit in first place in the NL West, it is safe to say that this season has not quite lived up to the hype. They are still a World Series contender, but they will need to improve mightily if they hope to get out of the first round of the playoffs.

A reason for the up-and-down play this season is due to the plethora of injuries that continue to stockpile.

Today, they will finally get some relief as they begin their series with the San Diego Padres.

Dodgers Closer Tanner Scott Activated From Injury List

The Dodgers announced today that they have activated left-handed bullpen pitcher Tanner Scott from the injury list.

Right-handed pitcher Matt Sauer was optioned in order to make room for Scott.

The former All-Star has been out since late July, dealing with elbow inflammation. Prior to going on the IL, Scott had a very tumultuous start to his Dodgers career.

In 47 appearances, he has a 4.14 ERA with 19 saves and seven blown saves. Last season with the Padres and Marlins, Scott had a 1.75 ERA across 72 appearances.

Because of his stellar 2024 numbers, he signed a 4-year, $72 million deal with LA. Up to this point, he has not lived up to the contract, but hopefully, a little stint out of the lineup has been a good reset for the pitcher.

The Dodgers begin a critical series tonight against the Padres in San Diego, who are just one game behind them for the NL West lead.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM PT, and Blake Snell is on the mound. We should see Tanner Scott at some point during the game in relief. Will it be as the closer?

We shall see.
