In Year 2 of the Shohei Ohtani era, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in their second consecutive World Series. Despite struggling for most of the postseason, Ohtani broke out of that slump, hitting three home runs and striking out 10 batters to eliminate the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 4.
Ohtani and the Dodgers will look to build off that performance against the Toronto Blue Jays with the opening two games of the 2025 World Series happening north of the border.
Shohei Ohtani Earns Blunt Reaction From Ex-Dodger
Before Friday night’s Game 1 against the Blue Jays, former Dodger outfielder Yasiel Puig appeared on ESPN 710 and shared his honest thoughts on seeing Ohtani do things that have never been done before in MLB.

“He’s [not] from this planet,” Puig said on Wednesday. “He’s so amazing. Everybody can hit two, three home runs [but he’s] pitching and hitting home runs and running and stealing bases, 50/50, striking out 100, 200 people. That’s amazing.”
Yasiel Puig Makes Hilarious Shohei Ohtani Joke
Any Dodger fan remembers that Puig is a jokester, and he hasn’t lost that over the years. After making a serious remark about how amazed he is by what Ohtani can do, Puig quickly joked about the Japanese star being the prototypical athlete on and off the field due to his play and looks.
“You look at him and he’s just impressing you,” Puig added. “He’s six [foot] something, so cute, so beautiful. He’s so perfect. I don’t know. His mom and dad making him perfect in Japan.”
All eyes will be on Ohtani over the next few days, and whether he can replicate his Game 4 performance against the Blue Jays. Moreover, Ohtani can be at the heart of what can be a Dodgers dynasty if Los Angeles are able to win back-to-back World Series, adding to the two-way star’s legacy.
