The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently in Tokyo, Japan, preparing for their Tokyo Series against the Chicago Cubs. Earlier today, they played an exhibition game against the Yomiuri Giants, winning 5-1.
Mookie Betts traveled with the team but is still “under the weather” and is at risk of missing the opening series against the Cubs altogether.
He missed the final two Spring Training games in Arizona, did not play in the exhibition game today, and will not play in the second exhibition game either.
#Dodgers Dave Roberts said Mookie Betts will not be in either exhibition game as he still is recovering from being under the weather. He will go through a workout today, and they will reevaluate him on the off day to see if he will be available for Opening Day in Tokyo vs. Cubs

Mookie Betts At Risk Of Missing Los Angeles Dodgers Tokyo Series

According to manager Dave Roberts, he went through a workout today, and then the team will reevaluate him on the off day and decide if he can go against the Cubs.
Based on the Dodgers’ 31-man roster, if Betts is unable to go, Miguel Rojas would likely slide from 2nd base to Shortstop, and then they could likely play Enrique Hernández at 2nd.

Roberts could also move Tommy Edman from the outfield back to short and then have options at center field with Hernández, Chris Taylor, James Outman, or Andy Pages.
Betts is making the transition from Outfield to Shortstop this season, so he needs all the reps he can get. The series begins on Tuesday at 7 PM JST (3 AM PST), so he does still have time to rest up.
