After 2 Month On IL, Los Angeles Dodgers Share Big Tyler Glasnow Injury Update

After more than two months on the shelf, Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow has officially begun his rehab assignment — a critical step in the club’s plan to solidify its pitching rotation ahead of the second half and, more importantly, the postseason.

Glasnow made his first appearance with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, tossing two scoreless innings against the Round Rock Express. While he didn’t allow a hit, he walked three and struck out one, throwing 48 pitches (22 for strikes). It marked his first game action since April 28, when shoulder inflammation forced him onto the injured list. He was later moved to the 60-day IL, though that decision was procedural.

Earlier this season, Glasnow had posted a 4.50 ERA and 28 strikeouts across five starts. Though he had hoped mechanical tweaks in the offseason would lead to better durability, he admitted those changes may have disrupted his natural rhythm.

“I never land closed, I was opening up, so I was just putting a lot of stress on my shoulder,” Glasnow explained. “My [velocity] was down, stuff wasn’t good, command was really bad… I just wasn’t on track and didn’t know how to fix it.”

Now, the focus is on returning to his natural motion and letting instincts take over.

“He’s a very cerebral guy, mechanical,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “But as he starts to get out on rehab… my encouragement is to get more external. You’re going to start trying to get hitters out.”

The Dodgers expect Glasnow to make at least three rehab starts and build up to four innings before being considered for activation. If his progress continues without setbacks, a return before the All-Star break remains in play — positioning him for a long-awaited postseason debut in Dodger blue.
