Los Angeles Dodgers Woes Get Worse As Another Starter Hits Injury List

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation, the team announced on Monday. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers recalled reliever Noah Davis.

Glasnow’s placement on the IL follows his early exit from Sunday’s start against the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he threw just 17 pitches due to right shoulder discomfort. Manager Dave Roberts had previously indicated that an IL stint for Glasnow was a possibility, making this move unsurprising. This marks the second consecutive start that Glasnow has left early, having also departed his previous outing against the Texas Rangers due to cramps. In total, Glasnow has dealt with five separate injuries in the past two seasons since joining the Dodgers.

Glasnow’s injury further compounds the Dodgers’ pitching challenges. The defending champions now have two of their original five starting rotation members, Glasnow and Blake Snell, on the injured list.

The bullpen has also been significantly impacted by injuries, with several pitchers currently on the IL, including Gavin Stone, Emmet Sheehan, River Ryan, Kyle Hurt, Michael Grove, and Brusdar Graterol (recovering from surgery). Additional pitchers on the IL include Clayton Kershaw, Tony Gonsolin, Michael Kopech, and Blake Snell. Edgardo Henriquez, Evan Phillips, and Blake Treinen are also sidelined.

Despite these numerous setbacks, Manager Dave Roberts has maintained a composed outlook, emphasizing that the focus for many of the rehabbing pitchers remains on being ready for October.
