We are getting to the point where the Los Angeles Dodgers are making history, but not for good reasons.
With the turn of the calendar to June, the Dodgers already had a historic number of 14 pitchers on the injured list. They just announced that star reliever Evan Phillips would be undergoing Tommy John Surgery and would be out for the remainder of the year.
On Sunday, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Dodgers placed their 15th pitcher on the IL, reliever Luis Garcia.

Los Angeles Dodgers Place Luis Garcia On IL

Luis Garcia is dealing with an abductor issue that he tweaked during the Cleveland Guardians series last week. According to the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, he was placed on the 15-day IL, so hopefully, he will be returning to the lineup soon.
A look at the pitchers on the IL is daunting and will not be sustainable for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ long-term success. Their bullpen currently leads the league in innings pitched with 245.2.

Manager Dave Roberts has spoken about this and about how it is an unsustainable model if the Dodgers want to continue being one of the top teams in the MLB. Getting healthy is a major priority moving forward.
The current pitchers on the IL are as follows:
- Luis Garcia – 15-Day
- Tyler Glasnow – 60-Day
- Brusdar Graterol – 60-Day
- Michael Grove – 60-Day
- Edgardo Henriquez – 60-Day
- Kyle Hurt – 60-Day
- Michael Kopech – 60-Day
- Evan Phillips – 60-Day
- River Ryan – 60-Day
- Roki Sasaki – 15-Day
- Emmet Sheehan – 60-Day
- Blake Snell – 60-Day
- Gavin Stone – 60-Day
- Blake Treinen – 60-Day
- Kirby Yates – 15-Day
So far this season, Garcia has a 4.50 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 26 innings pitched.
