It appeared as if the Los Angeles Dodgers were beginning to get healthy. Tyler Glasnow is back and pitching. Blake Snell is really close to a return to the mound. Max Muncy is rehabbing, and his return is also closely approaching.
At yesterday’s MLB Trade Deadline, they acquired reliever Brock Stewart to add some depth to the bullpen.
Unfortunately, now it looks like that “depth” is a necessity as Dave Roberts is forced to put another reliever on the IL.
The Dodgers manager announced today that Kirby Yates would be going to the injured list with lower back pain.
Kirby Yates is going on the IL with lower back pain. Brock Stewart, Paul Gervase and Alex Call will all be active tonight.

Los Angeles Dodgers Put Reliever Kirby Yates On The IL
The journeyman pitcher has had an up-and-down season with the Dodgers thus far. After posting a career best 1.17 ERA with the Texas Rangers last season, he has posted a 4.31 ERA so far this year. His 13 holds, however, are on pace to be one of his best of his career.
The Dodgers still boast an astounding 12 pitchers on the IL, including both their set-up man (Yates) and closer Tanner Scott.

As Roberts mentioned, new addition Brock Stewart will be active and could see action in tonight’s series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Getting healthy is going to be critical for this team to have any real shot at defending its title. The pitching overall has been very inconsistent, from the starting rotation to the bullpen. Most of that falls on the lack of consistent healthy arms.
Kirby Smart is just the latest to fall into the 2025 injury pool.
