The Los Angeles Dodgers had to secure at least one win in Canada after dropping Game 1 of the 2025 World Series to the Toronto Blue Jays. After a Game 2 win, the Dodgers return home with a 1-1 series tie.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched his second straight complete game, allowing just four hits over 105 pitches, in the 5-1 win for Los Angeles. It was the outing that Dave Roberts and his team needed after the lopsided loss in Game 1.

Can the Dodgers End the World Series at Home?

Vote For Your Favorite Dodgers Duo: Ohtani – Yamamoto, Betts – Freeman, Hernandez – Hernandez
Following the first two games in Toronto, the scene shifts to Los Angeles, where the Dodgers can end the World Series at home if they can win the next three games. As a result, Kiké Hernández hopes this will be the case and that the team will avoid needing to make that international flight back to Canada.
“Right now, it means we’re three games away from winning the World Series,” Hernández told SportsNet LA’s Kirsten Watson about becoming the Dodgers’ all-time postseason appearance leader with 87 games after Game 2. “It’s a truly special accomplishment.
“Obviously, there’s been a lot of really big names, a lot of history in this franchise, a lot of postseason games played on this team. For a guy like me to have the most games played—unbelievable. I don’t even know how to answer that question, but I guess I’m proud that I’ve lasted this long to be able to get this opportunity to be by myself. Hopefully, we only have to play three more [games].”
Kiké Hernández Reacts to Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s Performance
If the Dodgers have to get back on a plane to Toronto, they will be counting on Yamamoto to replicate his Game 2 outing. Hernández didn’t hold back his thoughts when asked to react to the Japanese star’s outing.
“He’s the man,” Hernández added. “That’s why everybody wanted him last year when he was trying to come over to the US. He’s worth every penny. He showed it—the amount of growth he showed in the last two years for a guy that accomplished pretty much everything over there is pretty impressive. He looks like he’s been there, done that a lot, which he has, because that guy’s been winning his entire career, and it shows.”
