The Los Angeles Dodgers have set their rotation as the World Series shifts to Southern California. Manager Dave Roberts announced that right-hander Tyler Glasnow will start Game 3 on Monday night against Toronto’s Max Scherzer, with Shohei Ohtani scheduled to pitch Game 4 versus Shane Bieber. The series is tied 1–1 after Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s complete game masterpiece evened things up on Saturday night.
Glasnow has been outstanding this postseason, logging a 0.68 ERA over 13⅓ innings while allowing just one run. “He’s been everything we’ve needed — dominant, composed, and consistent,” Roberts said earlier in the week. “This is exactly why we went out and got him.”

For Toronto, it’s another moment in the spotlight for the 41-year-old Scherzer, who will make his fifth career World Series start and first since his 2019 championship run with Washington. After Toronto’s ALCS Game 7 win, Scherzer immediately approached manager John Schneider with a familiar question: “When am I starting in the World Series?”
“I was like, ‘Max, I’m enjoying a beer, man,’” Schneider laughed. “He’s so regimented and wants to know what he’s doing.”
Scherzer called the opportunity “awesome,” reflecting on what it means to still be pitching at this stage of his career. “This is what you play for, to be able to get to this moment,” he said. “You just think about all the different things that have unfolded — just so fortunate to have another crack at this.”
Scherzer was left off the Blue Jays’ Division Series roster but returned to win Game 4 of the ALCS against Seattle, allowing two runs in 5⅔ innings. It was his eighth career postseason win and first since 2019.
Roberts’ Familiar Test
Scherzer’s World Series start will come against his former team — a club and manager he left a strong impression on. Roberts, who managed Scherzer during the Dodgers’ 2021 playoff run, called him “one of one.”
“Great competitor. Don’t want to touch him during outings, don’t want to pat him on the backside,” Roberts said. “He wants to be the guy. I really enjoyed managing a future Hall of Famer.”
Game 3 now sets up as a classic — Glasnow’s October dominance meets Scherzer’s championship fire — with the series knotted and both clubs eyeing a pivotal edge in Los Angeles.
