With the Los Angeles Dodgers in Washington, D.C. for a series against the Washington Nationals, the defending World Series champions made a traditional visit to the White House. President Donald Trump welcomed the 2024 titleholders to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to commemorate their achievement, an experience that MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani appeared to appreciate.
Following the visit, Ohtani shared a series of photos on his Instagram account, capturing moments with his teammates at the White House. However, some fans quickly noticed the absence of one prominent figure in his shared images: President Trump himself.

Despite not appearing in Ohtani’s Instagram post, the Dodgers star was photographed shaking hands with Trump and standing alongside him behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office.
The two also exchanged pleasantries, with Trump telling Ohtani, “It’s a great honor, you’re an amazing athlete and person.” Trump further acknowledged Ohtani’s record-breaking 2024 season, stating, “He shattered all of those records last year… he became the first ever member of the 50-50 club… an accomplishment unparalleled in 149 years of Major League Baseball. Think of that. That’s just incredible.”
As is common with any fanbase, LA supporters hold diverse political views, and the comments section of Ohtani’s post reflected a range of opinions regarding the White House visit. However, many fans chose to remain apolitical, with one commenter writing, “Shohei for President! So awesome to see the Dodgers represent Los Angeles in D.C.”
Following their visit to the nation’s capital, LA faced the Washington Nationals in their series opener, ultimately losing 6-4, marking their third defeat in their last four games.
